In the context of the exhibition “Index” by Antonio della Guardia, through a selection of photobooks curated by Tommaso Carbone, we will dwelve into the themes stemming from the artworks on display, which mostly tackle the theme of jobs in current times, and how it is influencing the transformation of our behaviour, our habits, and our very bodies.
“The professional world has the tendency to involve the domestic world too, because the separation between free time and working time is an obstacle towards the kind of employee that enterprises need, who is always flexible and available.” With these words Nicolas Borriaud underlines how the architecture of work get de-materialised, a process that has a deep impact on the transformation of the time dedicated to work, which comes to include the daily life and the spaces of private life. At the centre of this analysis lays the worker: s/he is confined within an indefinite space, a space that is half way between the domestic and the social and thus cannot easily be defined.
During the event it will be possible to consult the following volumes: How Terry likes his Coffee: A Photo Odyssey in Office Life by Florian van Roekel, A Google Wife by Olga Bushkova, The hobbyist – Hobbies, photography and the hobby of photography periodical/catalogue of the exhibition curated by Pierre Hourquet, Anna Planas and Thomas Seelig, Tokyo Compression Final Cut by Michael Wolf, Carpoolers by Alejandro Cartagena, Short Flash by Wiktoria Wojciechowska, Empty bottles by the duo WassinkLundgren, L’Atlante dei Classici Padani by Filippo Minelli and Emanuele Gallesi, The Heavens: Annual Report by Paolo Woods and Gabriele Galimberti, Status Delivered by Thomas Mailaender, The Winners by Rafal Milach, Pixel Stress by Anouk Kruithof, and Unfinished Father by Erik Kessels.
