Musica per un giorno [Music for a day] is the performative event that brings together the research by the multidisciplinary artist Canedicoda and the choreographer and dancer Roberta Mosca. The performance, which lasts 24 hours, takes place once a year and will span for a total of 24 years. Musica per un giorno is a spatial exploration in time that involves human body, sound bodies and environment. With its deeply immersive character, the work-ritual absorbs us and invites us to be part and parcel of the research made by the senses, that flow and expand reaching for mind-states, conditions, and limits. It pushes us to adopt by synesthesia new opportunities for perception, to inhabit time, to be-within-time, with the aim to create a dimension that is made of both awareness and unsettledness. In its sixth edition, Musica per un giorno will unfold among the stones that form the landscape of Patù, among the rock fragments of the sacred hill of Vereto, and more precisely in the space in front of the rural chapel that is still named after the old Messapian city. The small church is highly important from the archaeological point of view, as it was built on several pre-existing layers. The chapel still hosts a late-16th century depiction of St. Paul of the Snakes, among the oldest of the region, with the iconography of the “de venenis bestiary”, a clear reference to the healing powers of the saint.
Musica per un giorno (Anno 6°) is part of the event series performance di parola tra gesto e architettura funded by the programme 2020 for culture and events of the regional government of Apulia. It is made possible by a partnership with the Municipality of Patù, SAC Parco Otranto Leuca and is supported by Xing.
